Changelog
Stay up to date with the latest features and improvements to DicomTube.
Support for secondary volumes in panels
Added support for secondary volumes in panels (i.e. putting a colored PET volume on top of a grayscale CT volume). Using this capability, uploaded a new large PET/CT dataset (PETWB-REP) to DicomTube.
- Additional few bug fixes, most noticably fixing the broken ruler and oval ROI tools in the panels.
Support for 3D RGB color volumes
Added support for 3D RGB color volumes, including 3D processing such as 3D MPR or VRT. Utilizing this new capability, added multiple cases from the Visible Human Project, courtesy of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
Bug fixes
Minor bug fixes. Breaking change to how search query and options are encoded. Impact will be limited to user history entries that came from the search page; they will no longer remember the search query and options (but otherwise will be functional). It was an unfortunate but necessary change.
DicomTube Arcade
Introducing DicomTube Arcade! Three fast paced games testing your diagnostic radiology skills. Leaderboard for bragging rights!
- Fracture Frenzy: Detect fractures in X-rays
- PE Pursuit: Detect pulmonary embolism on scrollable CT scans
- Aneurysm Arena: Aneurysm detection on scollable MRA images
Bug fixes
Fixed bug with key finding navigation sometimes not going to the correct images.
Migration to TanStack Start
Migrated the entire website from NextJS to TanStack Start for better performance and developer experience on the Cloudflare Workers platform.
Bug fixes
Fixed broken annotation creation/editing (was caused by the recent touch gesture support and associated architecture changes).
Touch gesture support
Minor update to add touch gesture support for mobile devices. You can now use two fingers to zoom and move the images in the DicomTube viewer (by pinching your fingers or moving them respectively).
Improved Search Page
The search page has been completely revamped utilizing the open-source InstantSearch library:
- Realtime search results as you type
- Filtering by imaging modality/body part
- Different sorting options
Typesense Search Engine Integration
We have added Typesense search engine integration to the platform. This will allow for state of the art, faster and more accurate search results utilizing both traditional and semantic searching.
- Autocomplete search bar for cases, showing search results as you type
- Can use more advanced query features natively supported by Typesense (e.g. use '-' to exclude cases that have a particular term for instance 'stroke -cpaisd')
- Paves the way for advanced search features in the future
Premium Subscription Launch
Introducing DicomTube Premium - unlock advanced features to enhance your medical imaging workflow and learning experience.
- Create private cases with 100 GB of secure storage
- Generate secure share tokens to share private cases and playlists with specific individuals
- Priority support for premium subscribers

User Profile Pages
All users can now choose to have a user profile page with basic RichText editing capabilities for the contents of those pages.
- Minor addition: Added verified badge next to users who are "verified". Any user may contact us if they are interested in having this badge.
Segmentation Display Support
We have added the capability for DicomTube cases to have color segmentations. Using this ability, we have uploaded a number of 3D anatomy modules as well as a subset of the publicly accessible Total Segmentator dataset of body CT images with anatomical segmentation. Segmentations are very common in publicly available radiology datasets, and we are excited to use these new capabilities to port even more open-access datasets to DicomTube for easy viewing.
